My kitten has bought me a gift. At 6 months old he has caught his first mouse and with great fanfare has bought it in a dropped it at my feet. It is still alive. He lets it go and chases it around my lounge room. Despite my cats undertaking repeated desensitisation exercises resulting in my removing half eaten rat carcases from my house, I still hate rodents. Echoing the actions of a 100 cartoon housewives I pull my legs up on the couch and scream ”get that bloody thing out of here”. The kitten ignores me engrossed in his game. Meanwhile my other older and wiser cat enters the room. Prudence by name and prudent by nature she captures the mouse and eats it in two bites.
