February 2023

Rocky River ‘Riters’ have come out of hibernation mode, having been surrounded by books through Christmas.

Those who had the following books over the holidays did reports for these books – “The Good People” by Hanna Kent and “The Dressmaker of Khana” by Galle Tzemach Lemmon.

Many books were read over the holiday period. Some included “Dark Emu” by Bruce Pascoe, “Kingdoms Under Milkwood” by Dillon Thomas and “The Riders and Dirt Music” by Tim Winton.

Rocky River ‘Riters’ reading for February is “I Came to Say Goodbye” by Caroline Overington.

Members choose new words and phrases from readings they do in the month. Words included conflagration, asymptotically, incunabulum, sacerdotal, laification , raptorial,  saptoriccal, fragarra, over it, enthusiast, venality, shout out and floccillation.

Quotes included “If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen.”

Each month there is a writing challenge to members to write about the topic for the following month’s meeting. This challenge is open to anyone who wishes to enter. This has started again with the ropix: “Last chance to tell him/her”.
