Rocky River ‘Riters’ reading for May was ‘The last painting of Sara DeVos’ by Dominic Smith.  The book for June is being collected and will be announced here next month.

Members choose new words and phrases from readings they do in the month. Words included shoji, homograph, abnegation, bifurcated, provocateur and adumbrated.  Phrases included “After the game the King and the Pawns go back in the same box” and “..five males, shepherd mongrels, collie mongrels, dogs whose breeds had been blurred by a freedom of social life…”

Laura Literary Awards 2023 Presentation day will be Saturday 29th July, 2023 at 2 pm in the Diocesan Hall in Gladstone.

Brush With Art exhibition in Gladstone entry forms are now available. The art work and the school’s artwork across the three schools is well worth the visit in September / October.

Rocky River ‘Riters’ meetings are in Gladstone the second Friday of every month. Please contact us for meeting information. Our next meeting will be on July 14th at 9:30 am.

The creative writing meetings are on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Diocesan Hall in Gladstone. The next session will be Saturday 22nd July. Sessions run from 10 am to noon with shared lunch.
